It sounds like there is a shorted component in the startup/micro
circuit.  The relay that you removed is probably not the power relay,
but is most likely for the degaussing circuit. I have had the exact same
symptoms when the power relay contacts are shorted.  Are you sure there
is not another relay hiding somewhere else on the board?  This set seems
too old to not have a power relay.  HTH

Well...now I have taken it right out..(it's in my hand)..it's doing
exactly the same thing, except I don't hear a relay click any more. But
still comes on when plugged in..when I push the power switch get the
video and the sound.

If you're taking the power relay out and it still comes on where is the
power coming from? Did you take it out or just unsolder it?
