Kevin,
These VDR's are two diodes back-to-back, so I'm not sure how to test if they
were opened.
If you find other problems, like a shorted HOT, that may be all that is wrong
with the unit.
Last one I replaced the VDR's non, the only problem found was a burnt fuse and
a burnt trace. Due the
extent of board damage, I felt it best to take other's advice and replace the
VDR's, to improve
reliability.
If someone knows a sure file way to test these, w/o lugging a scope to the
customers home, I am all ears.

Jeff, why should all the VDR's be replaced? I have not done this and
have never had any problems. Do you know what causes the VDR to fail?
Thanks.

Medi,
I've been told all the VDR's should be replaced. At their low price, it
shouldn't break you, but maybe add
reliability.

Hi Everyone
The customer complaint was that the Sony TV ( Model # KV-27TS32 ) was
dead . I found 2 regulators (
2sc4834 ) and horizontal output transistor ( 2sc4927 ) were short. Also
.1 ohm resistor was open and VDR
601 was bad. replaced all tv turned on and worked for 10 minutes. The a
big sound and all the parts except
VDR 601 went bad again. The VDR 602 and 603 looks good.I don't know what
I am missing . Any suggestion
would be appreciated.
