Been down I-95 from I-80 to GW bridge, took the 20 foot drive-thru, but alas
no abandoned cars.....finally got to Conneticut during rush hour traffic and
spent about 3 hours getting to Boston, total travel time from NJ on the
Hudson to Hull, Mass was 5 hours.....
NYC isn't scary, just a pain to get thru.....just like Chicago...
Don't know where "Hell" is in NYC....just Fort Wayne and Chicago's
theoretical "South side".

| When I was going to the Magnavox schools in the 80s, in E. Rutherford, NJ
| they gave me directions that took me across the GW bridge. The route

| NYC, I think was called the Cross Town Thruway. It had concrete walls on
| both sides, about 20 to 30 feet high that made you feel like you were in a
| tunnel. The fact that the roadside was littered with the skeletons of cars
| that had died there, sort of made me look for another way the next time.
All
| the way through, I was praying: don't let it stall, don't let me get a
flat
| tire. When I got into Connecticut I wanted to get out and kiss the ground
| for getting there safely.

| After that I went about 50 miles out of the way, up north, across the
| Tappanzee bridge. I could wave to the boys in Attica on the way by, but at
| least they were a safe distance away.
