[TechAssist] Re: Repair Parts Taxable ?

In Canada we have 2 taxes, the PST and GST (HST in Quebec). Alberta has
only one tax, the GST. It is a bit confusing but this is how it works
in BC: If you have a PST # you don't pay PST (provincial sales tax) on
parts purchased for resale. Only the customer pays the PST (7.5% in
BC). The GST (7%) is charged on parts, BUT if you are over $30 000 in
gross income, then you must charge GST to the customer and then you get
back the GST that you paid on the parts you bought. Just in case
someone was concerned about double taxation.

If you charge the customer tax on the part that's double taxation...it's

unconstitutional.
