You are right,You can access the menu from the front panel controls,just try it.
Hit menu and scroll down to autoprogram and should  work fine.

Thanks for the reminder about autoprogram after tuner repair. However the 
customer does not have a remote anymore for the set. I assume this set has 
the ability to access the menu from the panel controls? If not will a 
universal remote work OK?
