[TA-A] Re: RCA, RP TV, CTC169, finding HV gaskets, and OSD?

Glad to see you got it up and running, as far as OSD
problems I haven't experienced any, you may want to
look for spillage of CRT Coolant on the Main PCB. As
for gaskets, you can research them at MCM electronics.
If the original splitter is in the set, it needs those
gaskets, if it's not the original HV splitter some
are substitutes and don't require gaskets. If you're
not getting any hissing sound from the HV splitter you're
are probably OK, and secondly it wouldn't affect the OSD
circuits. BTW, B+ is set in standby mode for 145 volts.

Subject: [TA-A] RCA, RP TV, CTC169, finding HV gaskets, and OSD?

Hi all,

I have recently got a RCA RP with an CTC169 chassis.
It was dead, I found that the 15v standby was low, and
fixed by replacing CR4118. I also replaced the 4 caps.
in the primary side of the SMPS.
I also noticed that resistors on the B+ reg. board were
dark/burnt. I checked and found that the 75 ohm and
430ohm
were open and the 11k was burnt and at 12.5k.
So I also replaced all 3 resistors.

Now the set will turn on and the B+ reg. is at 143.8v,
I think this is ok.
I also noticed while viewing the OSD with no video input.
The red covers the whole screen and the letters,
numbers, ect.
are black. This is while looking into each tube
individually,
the blue and green seem to be ok.
Is it normal, or is there something wrong with the
red in the OSD?
Is it normal for the red on the OSD to be inverted?

Also, if I look at an OSD from a vcr connected to
this tv,
all the colors seem ok, so it just looks like the osd
only.
If the OSD is not right, what part(s) may be involved?

While I was working on this set I noticed a HV gasket
laying around.
Out of curiosity I pulled the HV anode leads, and
found that some
one had replaced the HV splitter and not reinstalled
any of the gaskets!
I know the rca number is 223221, but I can't seem to
find anyone that
I normally buy from that stock this. Most sell the
splitter but no one
seems to carry the gaskets.
Where can I get these gaskets these days?

And if I can't find the gaskets, would silicon RTV
work as well?
I know, last resort, but is that better then nothing?

Thanks,
Jim Martz
