Kevin,
 I just spent a week fighting the same intermittent problem. Replaced
regulator ic, micro, and eeprom each time it would play for a short time
then die.
    We then discovered coolant residue on board. The data and clock lines
were intermittently pulled low thus causing the no start.  We pulled the
chipper check connection plug and it was green. Hope this helps you.
