Ronnie, I have basically the same problem with a CTC178 chassis, only
instead of lightning, mine had mouses pee on the chassis. Do you need
portions of the schematic? I have the manual. Did you remove the
flyback HV lead to the splitter?
I finally got mine to fire up, but a few seconds after, the vertical O/P
IC smoked. Thats the last I've worked on it. It belongs to my buddy and
he doesn't need the set right now, so I only work on it when I feel like
it, which isn't very often, hehehe. I had used my Chipper Checker on the
chassis and it told me there was a fault with U1503 (hope I am thinking
of the proper IC) which is the tone/ balance/ volume controller. I
replaced that and U1600 (again, not sure if I'm thinking of the right IC
because the set is not in front of me). Then set fired up but this
vertical problem happened. You may have a totally different fault than I
did, so it might pay you to get a Chipper Checker if you don't have one.
I got mine from Jason at Excel.
