I just received my first TV with this chassis for warranty repair. The
customer's complaint is intermittently the screen will scramble (looks like
the horizontal frequency may be off similar to installing a new EEPROM on a
CTC177) and sometimes the picture goes to black and white. The symptom only
happens after the set is warm and ONLY if any setting change is made
(channel change, volume, input....etc). I picked it up late Wednesday from
the customer's home. Since I am in the shop today, I threw it up on the
bench, dug out the ESI CD for the chassis so I could see how to get into the
service mode (which is different from previous chassis), and attampted to
connect Chipper Check to it. This is where my question comes in. It appears
that the service manual does not indicate which adapter to use nor does it
indicate to put it into the service menu and set the value to "200" then hit
"channel up" to lock it in for Chipper Check. I do not yet have the new
Chipper Check adapter "TEC1" but have been trying to obtain one. Has anyone
serviced one of these chassis yet and what did you find you needed for the
adapter and procedures to use Chipper Check for the normal warranty issues
such as the usage display?
