Phil,

 Look for ring cracks around the HO driver transformer and the coil 
connection to the base of the HO transistor. Common problem on this chassis. 
Look for 
ring cracks around pins of STK730-010. Cracks, cracks, cracks. It makes sense 
that this problem would seem to happen when the chassis is totally cold and 
shrunk back. Everything shrinks back when it is cold 8^).
