Bruce, An application of HV putty or "Glypt" over the pin hole will seal these. I removed the flyback to test properly with a ringer test. It tested good. When the plastic laminate of the flyback breaks down most of the time the ringer check will test OK.. I put a new output transistor in and when the set tried to start their was arcing from the top of flyback between core and H.V lead like Tony says. Quality of these small flybacks is poor and they try to drive these bigger picture tubes with a little unit does not work for long. My point is , even if you could test the flyback it might test good but in fact be the problem. They go for $67 at Global . I wanted to order one from the U.S but by the time you pay delivery and brokerage would be almost that price. good luck, Bruce.
