[TechAssist] Re: RCA CTC197CD F32676SB (Dead)

Great Sencore Equipment...you talk to my wife. She is under the
impression, Expensive Test Equipment is used periodically, a nice house
is 24/7.
Since she holds the purse strings, I always have to settle for
"second best".;-)

The most common problem with the CTC197 that I have seen is a bad
flyback
but the symptom is it will try to start three or four times. If you can
scope the HOT collector you'll see a bad pulse with lots of ringing
while it
tries to start. You can also pull the flyback and ring test it and/or
load
test it if you have any of this great Sencore equipment (instead of a
nice
house)!

Ok...get rush of sound. So it is Flyback?
Kind of suspected H/O would be shorted if Flyback.

Unsolder collector of HOT and turn on wait for rush of sound. If sound
heard replace flyback.
