I would disconnect the spindle motor from the drive IC and would apply dc
voltage to the motor itself, then run the supply up and down, reverse
polarity on the motor and do the same. Do not run the voltage so high that
it would self destruct though. Then remove voltage, resolder connections on
motor. If this helps then the motor is probably bad and will need to be
replaced.

This magazine type (6) CD player has what sounds to me like
''spindal-motor'' noise. This motor is a pain to replace so would like some
feedback before I do.Tryed a drop of oil on top &sprayed some silicon
cleaner inside but did not help.Is there a drive IC for this motor that
might cause this problem? Also tryed a solder-up job &tightened all ground
screws &checked filters in p/s.All i/p's welcome....TIA....Don......
