Jeff,
If this rmt rcvr is the type that is enclosed in a plastic(maroon)case, it
will have some defective filter caps in the unit. They are about $35 dealer
cost from Philips. I have had good sucess with repairing. The only hard part
is finding a cap small enough to fit inside the case. You can usually find
some small ones in a VCR.

Good luck and good hunting.

Subject: [TechAssist] Philips H1 Remote Control Issues

Make : Sylvania
Model : RPJ710
Chassis : 27H1
Problem : Customer has to get within 6 feet of TV in order for the remote
control to respond. He has tried a new Universal Remote....same results.

We had just repaired the tuner in this set a couple months ago & he forgot
to tell us about this problem....the set is at the customers house at thin
time.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Is the Remote sensor defective or dirty?
