[TechAssist] Need help to identify this transistor

Greeting,
              I'm going through some of my old transistors and I found one that 
I cannot identify but I know was very common, just cannot place it. The 
transistor is a TO-3 case with the following #  Top=417 162, middle=RCA, 
bottom=C  E  7636. Thanks
