Back in the 80's I was a Goldstar ASC because KMart asked us to. We had
a solid local reputation, and KMart sold a bunch of Goldstar
MWaves,VCR,stereos and TV.
Goldstar asked us for an equipement list. We had the usual: B&K tube
testor,CRT checker,VTVMs,VOMs, HV probes,crosshatch gen,etc.
They Okd us, and sent us boxes upon boxes of their paper service
manuals, UPS was here for a week daily. No charge.
Problems started when their warranty payments dept.started dragging
their feet reimbursing us.
We had to buy the parts both for in and out of warranry repairs, pay the
parts bill full within 30 days.Prompt.
But they were taking 90 days,120 days and more to cut us a check, then
partial payments. they were breaking the bank.
Understand I am a one man shop, and Polk county is the largest county in
the stateof Florida with ALL the KMarts UPSing store returns,DOAs,etc
to us, we picked up from two stores, along with customers carry-ins. I
simply couldn't afford to financially "carry" Goldstar for all Polk
Countys KMarts, and other stores.
So, we fought and fought, finally got our money, and said goodbuy.
Nuf said.
