I don't send or receive many faxes, so I normally use an online service c=
alled
TrustFax. http://www.trustfax.com

They came highly recommended and I got the $19.95 per year plan. It gives=
 me
70 pages (in and/or out) per year with 15MB file storage and a toll-free =
fax
number.

You just log in to the site, enter the phone number, upload the document,=

un-check the cover page box, and then press send. If you get a fax, they =
will
notify you by e-mail.

To send faxes via my modem, I use Supervoice. It came with one of our mod=
ems a
few years back. There's a copy for sale on eBay right now, and the auctio=
n
ends tomorrow. It's item # 7206872708 for about $7 total.

You can problably find different free or shareware programs to send faxes=
 via
modem at http://www.download.com or http://www.shareware.com

Lastly, you should be able to go to your modem manufacturer's Web site an=
d
download the software to reinstall it. They should also have the manual
online, too.

brand & model info (see Start > Settings > Control Panel > Modems) or the=
 FCC
