Charlie..
Nothing wrong with that..(Researching before going on call),especially
resarching parts, and asking for advice.But just keep in mind, that most of
the time, you only have the info that the customer relayed to you over the
phone, which, is 75% different then the actual problem you will find when
you get to the customers home, eg customer says I have no picture, when you
get there it's just vertical collapse, etc.
    By all means, when going on a call, and you have a "no sound"
problem...ask if someone knows what the set might be using as an audio chip,
etc.
But the group can not give you answers on what you might run into on a
service call, untill YOU, the technican, has made some primary checks on the
set.
    Keep in mind the more you can give us for symptoms, the easier it is to
eliminate the sections of the TV, you don't have to concern youself with.
