Don't let the name Marantz fool you.
I presume all are suffering from the same thing.
After warm up...Laser loses focus.
It may be something as simple as a Cap in the + or - 5V supply, or 
actually the laser itself.

Being Marantz, it's probably over 5 years old.

You can try an "Audio" CD...Commercial grade.

If you have no problems getting through an Audio disk..Scrap it.

Sorry to be so callous, but these are not something you will make money on.
