Hello all,
Over the years we have been over and over this virus issue. The FACT is
that freelists converts all html email to plain text and removes all
attachments, period. A virus cannot be transferred through the email list.
You have to learn how to view all of the headers in a email to find out
where it actually came from. Just because the email says it is from
joe@xxxxxxx means nothing. When you open the email and view all of the
headers you will find out who really sent the email. These new viruses forge
the from field by taking an address out of the hosts address book and
placing it in the from field of the email and sends the email to others in
the address book. So before you go accusing people of sending out a virus
learn more about viewing the headers in a email.
I have received hundreds and hundreds of viruses over the last few years
and I have had to learn about this the hard way. The new viruses spoof the
senders email addy by replacing the senders email addy with a random one out
of the hosts address book. If I can find a link to any web site that can
explain this further I will post it. For now please drop this issue and
email me personally about it. We do not need a hundred replies to this for
everyone to have to delete.
