78xx, 79xx series are rated 1Amp.
78Lxx, 79Lxx series are rated 200mA
78Mxx, 79Mxx series are rated 500mA

I can't say for sure what a 7905L would be. If it is in a TO-92 case, 
I'd say it would be 200 mA. If it is in a TO-220 case, I'd guess 1Amp 
but it might be 5A.
