If thats about a 2 year old model there may be a cheaper way that you wont
like. We had two JVCs come in a couple of months ago. We gave customer an
estimate based on CCD replacement. Then customer called JVC who told him
that they will fix it free if he will send it to the location they
specified. About the time those were made many manufacturers used CCDs form
the same source and they have all been failing like mad. Sony is providing
free repairs, Samsung says send to them with $50, Canon is sending a mailer
on request so that the customer does not even have to pay shipping. We get
several calls a week from camcorder owners with symptoms of bad CCDs. We
tell them to contact customer relations and if it is not a model covered by
secret warranty to bring it in.
