Just pulled a CTC187 chassis with typical TOB solder problems.
Somebody had discarded the top cover for the tuner, and carefully "greased"
the tabs on the bottom cover with some kind of silicon grease. They also
applied whatever this was to the solder connection on the F connector at the
shield.
The bottom cover was factory solder. It had never been pulled.
Has anyone heard of, what, a wives tale or something, about this? Is there
some "logic" that I am missing?
