Strike voltage is a momentary 1000-3000v. Sony supply to the ballast is
250vdc. When they strike you can hear a slight buzz and if looking at it can
see a flash inside a spark gap. Tries 3 x then gives a no lamp indicator.
Can check connections to the lamp it self. Lamp checks open when good. Fans
and [color wheel for DLP] must turn but their may be a separate fan or
overheat indicator. Some bulbs just don't seem to last long, if they
improved the ballast design may increase lamp life. Extra off on cycles may
shorten lamp life. That's about all I know.
