I am trying to repair an INFOCUS Model# LP290 LCD Projector. The fans run, it knows when there is a source connected to it. Looking at the lamp, everything looks ok. The lamp assembly plugs into a connector block with two contacts. I have been reading the RCA technical manual on there DLP units, trying to understand how these lamps are started and kept lit. They talk about a lamp ballast supply and that is strikes an arc to light the lamp. They really say very little about making sure it works. Is there any way to make sure a lamp is capable of lighting other than just subbing in a new one, which I can't afford to do unless it solves the problem? Is there any way to make a measurement where the ballast connects to the lamp to see if the supply is trying to light the lamp? Is there any chance anyone out there may have a schematic of this unit? I need to learn what makes these things tic since I also just got a Sharp & Sanyo LCD projector in which I haven't checked out yet. Any information would be appreciated TIA, Dale Dale A. Lubow C.E.T.
