[TechAssist] Hitachi model 43FDX01B weak video

Set came from my old employer Future Tech, where
they couldn't fix it.
I found the power/deflection board was broken
completely into at the convergence amps area.
A miserable attempt at running jumper wires had
been made.
I sent the board to PTS and they did a great job on
it.
I have gotten the convergence touched up, but the
picture just isn't what it should be for this set.
I downloaded the manual from Hitachi, but try as I
may I haven't been able to get a good picture.
I have to turn the brightness and contrast wide
open, and still the picture is more "washed out"
than it should be.
I really think that the problem is in the
adjusting, but I haven't had any success.
Does anyone know what a good average value is in
the set up menu for the sub brit.
The manual doesn't show any values for page 01.
The value presently in the menu is 85.
from page 2 through page 18 all other values agree
with the manual except Sub cir(page 3) Of instead
of 1B and color(page 14) 58 instead of 40.
The OSD seems bright and sharp enough, but I can't
see it when the brightness and contrast are turned
down as stated in the instructions.
Any ideas and suggestions appreciated.
