Hugh This is what Alvie Rodgers from Hitachi sent me it might help you. Jerry Alpha 21 Electronics Granite City, IL 62040 Ph. 618-452-8620 Fax 618-876-5157 www.alpha21century@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Hey Jerry: There's more info here that what I received. Your Magic Focus will not run. If it's stopping on Red, you should be getting an Error Code. Press SWAP and then the PIP CH buttons on the remote control. I know you don't have the Remote, but your going to need it. Most likely it's some of the preliminary set ups before DCAM are incorrect. See our web site for the DP-14G adjustment section. http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/index.html Scroll down to Error Codes http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/DigConvAdj/ErrorCode.html Most likely your code will be "4" Over Flow. You should check the following. Any one of these that's not correct will give you this error. (1) Raster Offset adjustments http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/page9.html (2) Vertical Size http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/page10.html (3) Horizontal Size http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/page11.html (4) Character Set Up (Data Checks) http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/DP-14G_DCU_Char.html (5) Pattern Set Up http://www.hitachiserviceusa.com/Service/Seminars/dp1x/Adjust/DP-14G_DCU_Sensor.html It's possible that (if I'm reading you e-mail correctly) that the boxes shown while doing Sensor Initialization for Red and Green have the boxes located at positions not used by this 4 sensor array set moved out of the view by entering data values. Note: Even if these boxes are totally removed from view, it doesn't matter since there are no sensor in locations 0, 2, 4 and 6. In other words, the data values for these locations mean nothing. Sensors data values are only critical for 1, 3, 5 and 7. ************************************ Alvie Rodgers C.E.T. Jerry Alpha 21 Electronics Granite City, IL 62040 Ph. 618-452-8620 Fax 618-876-5157 www.alpha21century@xxxxxxxxxxxxx John Hitachi 43UWX10B Chassis DP14G May be DCU Problems. Intermittent convergences then stayed out. Magic focus did nothing. No +5V to DCU. Found bad solder joint jumper PDK3 pin3 11V's going to 5V Reg. convergences still out. All other voltages to DCU ok. Changed both STK392-110. All voltage on IK04 & IK05 good. Question is after changed STK's do you have to go to service menu and manually change convergences or should Magic Focus take care of it? When pushing Magic Focus it runs past green and blue then stops on red, red shows 6 lines. Checked RK42, RK46, RK50 RK54, RK58 and RK62 all checked good. The reason I ask is dummy me left the remote at customers house about an hour away. Any response appreciated except on the dummy part. Convergence now looks ok, but now have three seperate red, blue, and green curved lines over the pix at the top of raster. Problem shows up in aux. video input also. Put in new digital convergence module--still same problem. Nothing found on Hitachi service web site. Set made in 2000. Nothing on Winstips. Theses 3 colored curved lines are about 8-10 in. across. Has anyone seen this problem in Hitachi?
