I use AC97 on the new Computer, with the XP OS. I know I can install a
separate Sound card on that and disable the built in one.

I tried getting the driver off a Win ME cd but that didn't seem to help.
Maybe the sound chip is actually defective or something. I think I will
install a separate sound card as long as I can disable the built in
sound. This is ridiculas, why don't HP support their product? They
didn't even have the Win 98 drivers on their site for this AC97 sound.
Unless maybe reinstalling ME over top of the original install might load
the driver properly.....
