First look at the name plate on the camera and see what voltage, AC or DC, and current or power is required. Some run from 12 volts DC and some run from 24 volts AC and some will accept 120 VAC. The wattage or amperage is usually low, maybe 100 or 200 milliamperes. Easiest thing is to buy one of the many power units that plug right into a wall socket that has the right volts and amps. You can get them at Radio Shack and distributor catalogs are full of them. Only cost a few dollars. You cant build anything for that price. Some local building codes may not allow that type of power supply and may require you to use a unit in a metal box and wire up with metallic conduit.
