I think with the newer TVs with internal pattern generators and menu
driven alignments less and less equipement will be needed by the TV
tech. Now the rebuilders, thats another thing. I have a nice sencore
VP301 so I can generate all the HD format signals, the NTSC patterns
as well as RF channels 2,3,4 NTSC so I can verify video inputs, tuners
working,S-video, HD inputs, etc. This is verification, not repair
really. Still find my Fluke digital meter is the thing I use every
day. And my dual trace scope. With multi layer PCBs replacement will
be the norm. Measure, verify defect, replace section. I think Sencore
would die depending on TV shops.
