What I can't see happening is every station converting by the deadline. If
you'll remember MTS in the early '80s, it was a quater million dollar
upgrade. Fine for large markets, but a killer for the small station in
'Podunk' Kansas or wherever. Now, we're talking even larger dollars for this
plus, the FCC, which is 'loaning' these frequencies out right now, will be
charging all stations for them after the deadline. I think there's going to
be a substantial extension to the deadline. Mandatory HDTV will happen for
sure, but I don't believe it will happen 'en masse' on the deadline.
