Kevin, Is the secondary winding center tapped? What kind of power supply does it use--full wave or half wave. Since it uses 16 volt filters, a good guess would be about 12 vdc supply. If you were to use a 12VAC transformer, rectify & filter it, you would have close to 18VDC. Too much! Just use a bench supply across the main filter. Start at 6VDC, increase up to 12 and test the radio.
