There may be a short between the G2/Focus Grids in the Pix Tube.
Does the Brightness change when the Focus is adjusted,or does
the Focus change when the G2 is adjusted ???
If so,with set unplugged, remove CRT PCB from Pix Tube.
Ground G2 pin of CRT.
Using a jumper wire connected to a WELL INSULATED Screwdriver,
and the other end connected to the Focus Pin of the CRT,turn set on
to let HV build. Unplug set and Discharge Anode to Focus pin with
screwdriver.
