I opened the VCR and removed the plug-in VCR SMPS module (typical Panasonic style) I ESR'd all caps. The only one that was bad was the small 22 MFD Bi-Polor cap in the SMPS primary, next to the SMPS transformer. I did not get location # but there is only one like it in there. After final cap replacement and assembly,Ubit accepted a tape, played, TV and tuner worked. All well. I could not find a +5V source in the VCR SMPS block in the usual areas, but this unit does have a seperate +5 and +12V source on the TV chassis that interconnects with VCR, so that's what the VCR uses in this case I guess. Anyway it works! -------- Original Message -------- Subject: follow up Re: GE TVCR combi K50MVR08/ 13TVR01 SMPS squeels, fix.now blue screen.flashes Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2001 09:42:17 -0500 From: Phil Bader <philbad@xxxxxxxxxx> Organization: Jan Phyl TV Inc. Probably those 5V reg.ckt. caps so common in the Panasonic VCRs power supply blocks. Will troubleshoot further.
