(See thread below)Had no video,no sound, slick raster, and reduced vert
deflection, then after 30 seconds just a line. Found the flyback's pin
#10 voltage source, Diode D553 shorted (264P102020,RU3B, NTE552),and
it's resistor in series open, R553 (1.2 ohm, 1/4 watt). Replaced both,
still measured a short at cathode of D553 indicating a short down stream
that caused these supply source parts to toast.Traced short to other
side of board, through a darkened (but good 15 ohm, 1 w) R709 (located
mid-board)on to the actual culprit, shorted electrolytic cap C737,(1000
mfd@ 16V) next to tuner.Replaced cap.TV powered up with good video,sound
and tunung, but slight vertical linearity distortion at top. Recapped the
vertical, C414(3.3/50V),C410(10/50V),C411 (4.7/250v),C412 (100/100v).
Since vertical was stressed, I replaced the pair of vert. outputs
Q401,Q402 (both 2SC2073, NTE375)as precaution. Found/replaced also C582
(1 mfd/50V Bi-Polor) that esr'd poor in horizontal. I ESR caps all over
the board on older TV's as good measure with my beloved Dick Smith ESR
meter. Greyscaled tracking and looks like new. Money in pocket, out da
door. Thanks, folks for all the assistance.
