Al; I'm guessing here, but I doubt that they cause any problem, as you say that you pulled it for other reasons. I believe that only the very center of the tube/optics is projected. I say this because many sets have a metal band, about 1/3rd into the center of the lense, that doesn't show up on the screen. Might try an experiment by taking a piece of cardboard and moving it across the projector until it showed up in the picture. Kinda like an "eclipse". I may try that tomorrow, as I'm about halfway through a NAP fluid change. As for what they may have been put there for; "too much Mescal one day", Bad taco???
