Thanks to Jeff, Gary and others! May help others with this fix!( Looks like bad tuner and gets one or two lower channels only). L2303 Aft (45.7MHZ) coil defective. Thanks to the trouble shooting guide went to great lengths for this fix finally installing "tuner upside down", on bottom of board to confirm it was working OK. Voltage checks on surface mounted transistors inside of tuner confirmed proper voltages and band switching. This is the only way to test this tuner, there is a stand up board in the way on the top of main board. I also subbed the tuner with a used one out of a TX81 which is similar and had the same tuner looking faults show up. I finally changed the AFT coil with one out of a scrapped chassis and had a good picture. Thanks Gary for the EPROM file to confirm good EPROM after the write! Thanks to Jeff for supplying similar faults from another data base. Lots of time involved but saved on parts costs... Will post fix to data base. thanks Bruce. Subject: [TechAssist] CTC169CA6 Tuner Problem? (Eprom?) After this set is auto programmed there is snow on most channels. This may be a defective tuner? I checked the data base and the only tip is CR4712 bad. This turns out to be a 9 volt regulator diode. The 9 volt is their. All tuner voltages are good including the 33 volt. . I was wondering if any one had any other tips on this condition before pulling the tuner. I was also wondering if it could be the "EPROM", and if so, does any one have the "file", (EPROM) they could send. thanks for your time, Bruce B&T Electronics 139 Margaret St Sarnia Ontario Canada N7T 2Y3 519 344 1850 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost Password: http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?".
