This wasn't anything too extraordinary but the set was new enough that there were no tips I could find and thought it might be of some benefit. Customer reported a loud pop then nothing - unit went dead. Upon inspection found that mercury lamp had burst inside and simply offset lamp inspection door. Door has to be secured properly to trigger a failsafe switch into a closed condition. Replacing lamp and lamp inspection door properly repaired the unit. The service manual, which Toshiba supplied in the form of a disc with hundreds of SMs and schematics on it, was essential in troubleshooting red/green lighting patterns near the power on touch pad.
