[TechAssist] Re: FIXED, Sony KP-41T65, RA-2 chassis, neon lights on PCB

Well, the mystery of the neon lights is solved. I disconnected the HV
lead going to the middle green tube, and now the set comes on with
proper HV of 30kV. The neon lights (see first email) led me to the bad
tube, and a simple test confirmed the diagnosis. The green tube must
have failed, causing the HV splitter to develop a hole and arc out to
ground, shorting out the HOT. Now if I can only find a cheaper
replacement green tube for this set I'll be happy. The price in Canada
is $359 plus shipping.

I replaced the HV splitter and HOT, and now the relay just clicks off
and on. When the relay clicks on there are 2 neon lights that flash on
as well. One is beside the flyback and the other is on the middle CRT
board. There are 9 of these neon lights in the set. Are these neon
lights used for troubleshooting? I downloaded the SM from techassist,
but there is no troubleshooting information. Thanks.
