Give them 2 invoices and subtract the diagnostic fee on the final
invoice.

OH no! You can't do it that way! The customer should pay an up-front
diagnostic fee. What if the set is not economical to repair, and the
customer never returns to claim it? YOU'RE SCREWED!!!!!
Worse yet, we now have "enviromental restrictions" where we can't just
put
the Tv's out in the curb anymore. I'm considering tagging an extra $5 on
the
current diagnostic fee to cover disposal of the sets we get "stuck"
with.
