35" Toshiba 1995 model. I thought there was another problem with the
set after I repaired it, but after hooking cable up, TV stayed on
without turning off.

Kevin;
Never seen a Toshiba do that. Some Emerson and Sanyo do...but not
Toshiba.

Toshiba TV's will turn off after 15-20 minutes (I forget which) when
there is not signal present. Good for the old days when TV stations
actually went off the air to a snowy picture! Bad for a tech trying to
test TV's without a signal. This sounds like what this TV is doing.

Bill, Thanks for the extra information, I will check out some of those
other components you speak of in that service bulletin. I forgot to
mention that when this TV does shutdown it is not necessary to unplug
the AC to get it to reset, simply, I just hit the switch and ON it comes
again. Also, I should note that I was testing this TV without a signal,
no cable, no composite video inputted via RCA, just that blue startup
screen. I hooked cable to the TV about an hour ago and it's still
running, weird. Is it possible that the micro shuts down this TV if no
signal is sensed after 15 minutes; I only state this because this TV was
shutting down after the same amount of time transpired each and every
time? This was after the new parts were installed. If it doesn't shut
down for the rest of the day I'm convinced this may be the case. Again
thanks, I'll let you all know what goes on with this one, and if in the
meantime anyone has additional input, please share your thoughts.

Dave,
Usually the replacement of C404, with a 160/3.3 solves a common
intermittent
shutdown and the resistor across the HOT the thermal runaway per
bulletin.
But this problem may have damaged regulator(s) or supports in that
circuit -
to the point that resistors may have changed in value. The remainder of
that bulletin suggests replacement of Q805 (Kse3203), Q803 (Ksc2500),
Q804(Kse13009), R818 (.33-1w), R806 (390k-1/2w), R812 (100-1/4w). The
resistors only as needed, but I usually just replace them anyway. And
the
regulators can be substituted...
Hope this helps.
Bill
