Hi Buck,
The service bulletin notes for the regulator circuit said to check the
following out of circuit: R818 (.33 ohm 1w), R806 (390k 1/2w), R812 (100 ohm
1/4w). Failure on these are highly possible due to thermal runaway. Then
test Q805, Q803 and Q804. To test you might remove Q402 (HOT), and use a
25w-120v bulb across the 103vdc and see if it flashes.
Replace C404 1mf-160v with a 3.3mf-160v no matter what, and place a 33 ohm
1/4w on Q402 between Base to Emitter. In my fix I had to replace Q402, and
then added the resistor.
The notes I have for crossing these are:
Q402 - D1880 - NTE 2353 (HOT)
Q803 - C2500 - NTE 2363
Q804 - E13009-2 - NTE 379
Q805 - C3203 - NTE 382
Hope this helps.
Bill
