Hi,

Give this one a try. Unless you have the service pack two =
installed.
You should be able to boot in safe mode. Create a new user account and =
give
yourself administration. Delete account with last info and create new
account with known password. Another approach is to delete the =
installation
and start over. Zero out the drive with any of a number of utilities, =
unless
you do you will get an NTLDR error. Microsoft has known about this error =
for
ages. I use a number of utilities for zero drive out. Mostly depends on =
the
hard drive installed in the unit. The F8 key allows you to boot in safe
mode. I made mention to Microsoft about the venerability in the first =
series
of XP and they fixed it.

                                         HTH,
                                           Lindsey

Hello again,

I finally found the back up battery, unplugged it for a few minutes, and
have the same results.
Turn computer on, "press control + alt + delete" page switches to =
Windows XP
Professional. User name is there, must have password to continue.
This is where he forgot his password.
