Keith,
Go to your control panel, select system  then device manager and see if your
modem is listed there under 'modem'.
Also, be sure you have your COM port listed under 'ports'.
Now, if you have a modem listed, click on it to remove, I think I would also
remove the com port.
Restart your computer and Windows should recognize the port and modem.
