[TechAssist] Compaq Presario MV520

Hi all,
  I am having problems with my own computer. I messed up and 
tried to restart my computer with Compaq's quick restore cd's. 
I can get everything back up but my modem. I have no idea what 
kind of modem that came with the computer, that would help me. 
I was told several months back that I could restart it 
internally, if so could someone give me the correct procedure?
