[TechAssist] Re: Best way to clean a head.

Anyone ever use foam swabs? After many other things, this is
all I like. I ruined heads once....ONCE with chamois swab.
Chamois has fibers on it, like little "hairs" that can get
caught on the head chip. I noticed this many times, but
since they were indeed "video head cleaning swabs", I kept
using them; until one was ruined. (Maybe it was some cheap
chamois). A few years back I started getting some video head
cleaner in a spray can from MAT. It's sort of like contact
cleaner (trichlorethane based I think, or other rapid
evaporative chemical). Spay them with that then use to the
foam swab to remove debris. Preferably I like to remove the
top of the drum, then use compressed air to blow OUT from the
center of the head drum to blow out the 'striped oxides and
tape particulates' that are always within the head drum, then
clean them. (I looked on the can of head cleaner, and it's
"Chemtronics Head Cleaner" #C2420. Trichlorotrifluoroethane
based w/a few other ingredients).

I prefer NOT to use cotton swabs, period.
Chamois swabs have been working fine for me. I have used the
business card
method, but not much luck with that one.
On the tough ones, I remove the cylinder and soak in Acetone
