I doubt H-K short.
Why not check voltages on G2 and see if they fluctuate with the adjustment?

  This set made in April 2002, powers up with a green screen with retrace
lines. I am hoping that it's not a
H-K short. Does anyone with experience with this model, and know another
reason for this symptom?
