We have several Panasonic fans. They have a pushbutton speed selector. When they get old and the bearings get gummy, they wont start in low and I have to hit the high button to get them going. After they get going I can switch to low and they keep running. After a few more years that trick wont work anymore and I have to take them apart and relube the bearings. Then for a few more years they will start in low. They are about 20 years old now. If I had known that I was going to do that more than once, I would have drilled holes so that I could have put in some plastic tubing for relubing without dissasembly. J Silverman > Here is a question for a slow Saturday afternoon: Why do all consumer > fans have a 4-position switch that starts off with OFF, and then HIGH, > MEDIUM, and LOW? I would have thought the order would have been off, > low, medium, and high. An automatic transmission in a car doesn't start > in high, it starts in low. Just wondering. > > Kevin Wilks > Kevin's TV & Video Repair > Penticton BC Canada > kevintv@xxxxxxx > > > > > ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Lost Password: > http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?". > Email Archives: > http://www.freelists.org/archives/techassist/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lost Password: http://www.tech-assist.org and select "Login Problems?".
