[team2039] Re: upcoming Rockford Robotics events

Hamilton Sundstrand is having an Education/STEM/Robotics Themed Lunch on the 
Lawn on Wednesday July 18.  These are usually pretty big events with many 
employees inviting their families to join them on the lawn for lunch.  They 
would like Rockford Robotics and The Flaming Monkeys to put on Robotics 
Demonstration.  They are looking into renting a stage for us to run on. One of 
the major themes is to convince employees to get involved in education.  It is 
HS managements desire to be involved in career based education that includes 
Robotics teams at each of our 4 Rockford Public High Schools but can only be 
successful if they can enlist enough mentor support.  They would like to drum 
up employees that are willing to invest time as Robotics team mentors.

We need to get this day on our calendar and start planning to support this.  
This is a huge opportunity for RR to help spin off and help mentor new area 
teams.  Brad and I will keep you informed as things materialize.

Students & Mentors -

We have several upcoming Rockford Robotics events.  Please note the following 
dates.

Discovery Center Robot Exhibit - Sunday, April 29, 1:00 - 4:00 PM - we showing 
off our robot at this event and need student volunteers to help drive and 
answer questions. Please email Eli if you can help, elib14@xxxxxxxxx

Team Party - Friday, May 11, 5:00 - 7:00(?).  We're celebrating this year's 
accomplishments with a pizza party. The team will supply pizzas. Students are 
asked to bring a two liter bottle of soda and cookies or other snack.

Middle School Workshops - Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 24.  We need at 
least 10 student volunteers to help with each of these workshops. Attendees 
will check out our bots, take turns driving this year's bot, and tour machine 
shop.

Sponsor Dinner - Tuesday, June 12, 6:00 -- 7:30 at the FMA Office on 
Featherstone Road.  This is a special event for students and mentors to meet 
our sponsors and thank them for their support.

Regularly Scheduled Meetings - We will continue to meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 
until May 11 from 5:00 - 7:00.  We will notify you via email if there is any 
change to this schedule.
