[team2039] Re: Wisconsin Regional OPR

I am excited that the team did so well. Congrads to all, as we (Corporate
sponsors- like Hamilton Sundstrand) are proud of you!

Hopefully someone is documenting the lessons learned from this season to keep
the existing data base up to speed (ie to date). Your future teammates will
benefit from these key lessons learned! Repeat escapes are not acceptable!

Subject: [team2039] Wisconsin Regional OPR

Here’s just a little fun with some of our performance stats this year.

If you’re not familiar with offensive power ranking, it’s a statistical
calculation that some sports and FRC teams use to determine a teams average
contribution to an alliance score. Thebluealliance.com has the top 15 OPR
teams listed for each regional.

At Wisconsin we were ranked 9th place for OPR. This is huge considering the
struggles that we had to get our shooter back together and functioning
properly. My best estimate is if we had the shooter working in top form for
all of our matches that we would have been in the top 5 teams for OPR.

It is also interesting to see that we were close to beating the number 2
alliance when you look at the alliance total OPRs:

2 Seed:
2826 – 24.35
48 – 18.48
269 – 12.79
Total: 55.62

Our Alliance:
868 – 16.46
2039 – 14.33
2062 – 13.61
Total: 44.4

The total OPRs give us what is a statistical guess at what a team’s average
score should be. Further supporting that our OPR was low compared to our
performance at the end of our match, our alliance OPR is 44.4, and the LOWEST
score we had in eliminations was 54 points. In fact our alliance averaged
61.33, so this ranking was definitely low.

Some other interesting facts: If we had gone to the Chicago (Midwest)
regional, we would have been ranked right behind Wildstang (111) in OPR. IF we
had not had to disassemble the shooter, we probably would have been ranked 1st
or 2nd in OPR at Chicago. Also, the team that won the Chicago regional had an
average eliminations score of 60 points… our number 6 seed alliance was better
than the number 1 seed alliance at the Midwest regional!

Great year team!
